How To Put Video On PSP - 8 Steps for Beginners

Putting video on the PSP is not as easy as it sounds. But with a quick step-by-step guide, you should get around to it and actually maybe understand what's happening. So here's the guide on just how exactly to do this.
How To Put Videos On PSP Step 1
You need a good memory stick, depending what type of length of video you want to watch. I encourage you to get a 512MB memmory stick.
Connect your PSP to your computer, via USB cable. Make sure your PSP is turned off when you do this.
How To Put Videos On PSP Step 3
Turn on your PSP, and go to the Settings Menu. In this menu select USB Connection and press X. Your computer should now detect your psp as an extra "removable drive". Your computer will assign a letter to this drive. Let's call it X:\ for future reference.
How To Put Videos On PSP Step 4
Go to this removable drive with your Windows Explorer. There is a folder called PSP there. Create a new folder called MP_ROOT at this level if it is not already created. (So you will have X:\MP_ROOT).
NOTE: DO NOT ERASE THE OTHER FOLDERS UNDER X:\PSP\ THEY SHOULD BE CALLED GAMES, MUSIC, SAVEDDATA AND PHOTO OR THE PSP FOLDER
How To Put Videos On PSP Step 5
In the MP_ROOT folder we just created (X:\MP_ROOT\), create a folder named 100MNV01 if it is not already present. You will get X:\MP_ROOT\100MNV01.

You are going to have to take the videos you have, and convert them to mp4 format If they are not already in this format. To learn more about this you can visit my blog.

Copy the mp4 files to the folder we just created on the memory stick (X:\MP_ROOT\100MNV01\)
How To Put Videos On PSP Step 8
Go on your PSP. Go to Video. Select Memory Stick. And voilà!
You are now watching your video as wished!

Cant get this to work and I've tried putting the video in the video folder the video is is mp4 and Ive formatted my memory card. its a 2 gig magic gate memory stick pro duo. it says the video is unsupported. >.< been trying to do this for a while anyone got any ideas?
when I do this it still doesnt work for me ive read other places that you have to name if M4V1001 but even after i do this only some videos work. some are in MPEG-4 and others are in MPEG4-avc what am idoing wrong
The biggest thing that everyone misses in these how-to's is: FORMATTING THE CARD.
go into settings on the psp ( in home screen to the left) > system settings > format memory stick. Nobody told me this but that will bring up a video folder and it will work if you drag m4v's and other playable videos to the folder. If that doesnt work for you, but i bet it will work, then update your system through wifi or through your computer!lol, this is such a easy way of doing it, works great.

That's not how you do it, you idiots. I've now read about 5 articles that all spout this crap and it's lies.
To put videos on a PSP, you simply make a VIDEO folder (all caps) in the root directory. They have to be in PSP video format, so just grab Youtube Downloader or some other program that will convert them over to specifically PSP video and then drag and drop into the VIDEO folder on the root of your memory stick.
I just did it on my PSP-1001 (fatty model) while I was attempting your ass-backwards methods and getting no results.Thank you, these idiots don't know the first thing about these little gadgets. HELLO EVERYONE I AM STRUGGLING HOW TO PUT VIDEOS ON TO MY PSP I HAVE TRIED THE WAY EVERYONE HAS DONE IT AND IT KEEPS SAYING THERE ARE NO VIDEOS YOU CAN IMPORT CONTENT FROM A PS3 SYSTEM OR A PC. FOR DETAILS REFER TO THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PSP SYSTEM
